Last Goodbye by Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band

I remember that I included this in the mix tape that I gave to someone. The first of the last 2 mix tapes i created and even had the gall to give to the girl. I'm not sure if I already talked about it in this blog, but I honestly believed it was a good set of songs. Kenny Wayne Shepherd was among the first artists that introduced me to the blues. I believe this song should be properly credited to the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band as it's the name that appears on the cover of the album, but it's still the same guy manning the guitars.

(Who who who yeah!)
Long before your rusted chains
Busted walls and barbed wire cage
Tried to hold me down
Time was just a fist of change
Tossed in the water just incase, you ever came around

I could lose myself
I could curse like hell
But I lost the will, to even try
If you ever doubt
Listen to the sound
No lies no no no
This is my last goodbye

Now pardon me if I appear
To see beyond the now and here
To try to save myself
Im not the kind in the plain
But I can't take more of the same
Livin on your shelf

I could lose myself
I could curse like hell
But I lost the will, to even try
If you ever doubt
Listen to the sound
No lies, no no no
This is my last goodbye

Door closes another one opens
I feel the cold wind blowing
Over me
Hey
Long gone but not forgotten
I might be lost, I might be finally free
I am finally free

Long before your rusted chains
Busted walls and barbed wire cage
Tried to hold me down
Time was just a fist of change
Tossed in the water just in case, you ever came around

I could lose myself, I could curse like hell
But I lost the will, to even try
If you ever doubt listen to the sound
No lies, no no no
This is my last goodbye
Yes it is, yes it is
