Hey Jealousy by Gin Blossoms

I was deciding on what to Gin Blossoms song to put here first then i came across my multiply post about acquiring New Miserable Experience... and it quoted some lines (in bold) from Hey Jealousy which i guess fits the overall feeling i have up til now.

The band I play with in the office also covers this song and we usually start off the band practice with this.

Tell me do you think it'd be all right
If I could just crash here tonight
You can see I'm in no shape for driving
And anyway Ive got no place to go

And you know it might not be that bad
You were the best I'd ever had
If I hadn't blown the whole thing years ago
I might not be alone

Tomorrow we can drive around this town
And let the cops chase us around
The past is gone but something might be found
To take its place...hey jealousy

And you can trust me not to think
And not to sleep around
If you dont expect too much from me
You might not be let down

Cause all I really want is to be with you
Feeling like I matter too
If I hadnt blown the whole thing years ago
I might be here with you

Tomorrow we can drive around this town
And let the cops chase us around
The past is gone but something might be found
To take its place...hey jealousy

She took my heart
Theres only one thing I couldnt start

Bato by Eraserheads

This song may not be featured of a greatest hits compilation of Eraserheads, but it certainly rates high on my book. The song kicks off circus and leaves no tables unturned. The vocals are edgy, the lyrics drudgy and the music borders on being punk (or is punk :) and showcases how tight this band is and the rock and roll lifestyle

If a band of mine were to cover an Eraserheads song this would be it.

Sang linggong wala sa bahay
Pare ayoko ng mag-aral
hinahanap na ako ni Nanay
di malaman ang gagawin

Paghawak-hawak ng gitara
Bat di mo matapos tapos ang kanta
Nakatira sa kakilala
Hoy pahiram naman ng tuwalya mo

Hoy hoy hoy bato na naman
Asan na bang barkada't kaibigan
Walaba tayong gimik diyan
Asan na ba kayo, pautang naman.

Sick Sad Little World by Incubus

Incubus epic concert song. I would have to describe this one as "of epic proportions". Said to be dedicated to Dirk Lance/Alex Katunich, who used to be Incubus bassist, the song draws on all Incubus instrumental prowess, the highlight of which is Mike Einziger's all out barrage of guitar effects that is plainly awesome, lest we forget the rhythmic foundations laid by Ben Kenney and Jose Pasillas.

No, You're not the first to fall apart
But always the first one to complain

You better get careful, or you'll compromise
Everything you are

This world is a drought when out of love

Please come back to us
You're all of the above
"I'm making a choice to be out of touch.

Leave me be." He said, He said, He said

"Leave me here in my stark raving sick sad little world!"

I've never had unpaid confidantes

It's more than I would care to explain
But I have an open door policy
When it comes to blame

This world is a joke when out of love

Please come back to us You're all of the above
"I'm making a choice to be out of touch.
Leave me be." He said, He said, He said,

"Leave me here in my stark raving sick sad little world!"

Mahal na Mahal Ko Sya By Gary Valenciano

Classic 80's. Classic Gary V. Most guys can related to this song I guess. This describes what I feel right now. I need to get over her. This song doesn't help though, but it somewhat still makes me feel better

kahit di man lang ako kilala

kahit di man lang ako kilala

Over My Head (Cable Car) by The Fray

I first heard this song as part of the soundtrack to the movie Stealth, which I bought thanks in part to Incubus. This was one of the songs i liked from that album, enough for me to buy Fray's How to Save a Life. I am honestly endeared by the lyrics at first, but while having another listen to it earlier on a bus from Makati, I rediscovered it as having this insurmountable feel and energy.

I never knew
I never knew that everything was falling through
That everyone I knew was waiting on a cue
To turn and run when all I needed was the truth
But that's how it's got to be
It's coming down to nothing more than apathy
I'd rather run the other way than stay and see
The smoke and who's still standing when it clears

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind

Let's rearrange
I wish you were a stranger I could disengage
Say that we agree and then never change
Soften a bit until we all just get along
But that's disregard
Find another friend and you discard
As you lose the argument in a cable car
Hanging above as the canyon comes between

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind

And suddenly I become a part of your past
I'm becoming the part that don't last
I'm losing you and its effortless
Without a sound we lose sight of the ground
In the throw around
Never thought that you wanted to bring it down
I won't let it go down till we torch it ourselves

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind

Meron Akong Ano! by Francis Magalona

I became a fan of francism as a kid, trying to follow the words to mga kababayan ko and listening to cold summer nights. Then I had a fall out and was not able to follow the other tracks that he released. Then come "Meron Akong Ano!"which became the part of the soundtrack for those brownout laden days/nights. This is my favorite song of that album and even became a song for a Royal Tru Orange campaign. This album should be re-pressed so that the younger generation can be inspired by his sincere songs. I would attest that this is one of the greatest pinoy albums. Mabuhay si Francis! Mabuhay ang Musikang Filipino.

Get Ready!!!!

Meron Akong (Ano?) Meron Akong Kwento!
Meron Akong (Ano?) Meron Akong Kwento!
Meron Akong (Ano?) Meron Akong Kwento!
(Ah Wala Wala Wala Wala) Pakinggan Ninyo!

Pakinggan ninyo ang sinasabi ng labi
Isang maginoong katulad ko ang nagmamay ari
Pag aaring isinulat upang kayong lahat

Up and Down, side to side or one on one
Dela Cruz, are you amused by the words i use?
Teka Tagalog nga pala, excuse me!

Do re mi fa so la ti, i get busy
Kailangan pag pawisan ng mabuti
sige maiging sumayaw ka ng todo
Yumugyog sa tunog meron akong Kwento

Aaggh! Huh, get ready!!!

Meron Akong (Ano?) Meron Akong Kwento
Meron Akong (Ano?) Meron Akong Kwento
Meron Akong (Ano?) Meron Akong Kwento
(Ah Wala Wala Wala Wala) Makinig Ninyo

Makinig sa daigdig ng aming musika
Humangga, tumunganga mula sa umpisa
hanggang huli, ayan kasi.... ano?!
kailangan sumayaw at ng wag mabato

Rak-rakan at saka namin hinaluan
Funk and Soul, talagang rat-ratan
Ganyan lang, minsa'y nahihirapan
Patay kung Patay kapag nasimulan

the groove makes you move ituloy ang ligaya
Cause I'm smooth and we never make gaya
Sinong may sabi, wala si Kimosave
Yo, my man, yeah! Swabe!

Grabe at yan na nga bang sinasabi
Lakasan mo pa at Ihampas mo palagi
Sige maiging sumayaw ka ng todo
yumugyog sa tunog, meron akong Kwento

Meron Akong (Ano?) Meron Akong Kwento
Meron Akong (Ano?) Meron Akong Kwento
Meron Akong (Ano?) Meron Akong Kwento
(Ah Wala Wala Wala Wala) Oh Eto Pakinggan ninyo

Pakinggan ninyo ang sinasabi ng labi
Isang maginoong katulad ko ang nagmamay ari
Pag aaring isinulat upang kayong lahat

Lakasan mo pa at Ihampas mo palagi
Sige maiging sumayaw ka ng todo
yumugyog sa tunog, meron akong Kwento

Meron Akong (Ano?) Meron Akong Kwento
Meron Akong (Ano?) Meron Akong Kwento
Meron Akong (Ano?) Meron Akong Kwento
(Ah Wala Wala Wala Wala) Oh Eto Pakinggan ninyo

Where The Streets Have No Name by U2

U2 is one of those bands my older brother Augy, believes in absolutely. And he made me a believer as well. This is a very powerful song. When I bought mycopy of the Joshua Tree album, i played it full blast, positioning myself infront of the speakers and mouthing the words to the song . At least for me, the feeling was like going to a U2 concert full of people all sharing their own memories that were accompanied by such songs.

I want to run
I want to hide
I want to tear down the walls
That hold me inside
I want to reach out
And touch the flame
Where the streets have no name

I want to feel, sunlight on my face
See that dust cloud disappear without a trace
I want to take shelter from the poison rain
Where the streets have no name

Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Were still building
Then burning down love, burning down love
And when I go there
I go there with you...
(its all I can do)

The cities a flood
And our love turns to rust
Were beaten and blown by the wind
Trampled into dust
Ill show you a place
High on ta desert plain
Where the streets have no name

Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Still building
Then burning down love
Burning down love
And when I go there
I go there with you
(its all I can do)

You Never Give Me Your Money by The Beatles

This may be the first Beatles entry here. And it's not even my top most favorite. However listening to this song recently made me feel alive and kicking. The Beatles are plain timeless and they are best to listen to when the chips are down and your friends are far away from you. They provide that convenience

You never give me your money
You only give me your funny paper

and in the middle of negotiations

you break down

I never give you my number

I only give you my situation
and in the middle of investigation

I break down

Out of college, money spent

See no future, pay no rent
All the money's gone, nowhere to go

Any jobber got the sack
Monday morning, turning back

Yellow lorry slow, nowhere to go

But oh, that magic feeling,
nowhere to go

Oh, that magic feeling

Nowhere to go
Nowhere to go

One sweet dream

Pick up the bags and get in the limousine

Soon we'll be away from here

Step on the gas and wipe that tear away

One sweet dream came true... today
Came true... today

Came true... today...yes it did

One two three four five six seven,

All good children go to Heaven
