Roxanne by The Police

I neve appreciated this song, until lowly Rockstar:Supernova Contestant Chris Pierson sang this as his 1st piece. Tommy Lee, Gilby Clarke and Jason Newsted said that his version was short of disgusting dismissing him in the first episdoe, but it made me appreciate the song, because of his standard rock arrangement instead of Police's tango cadence. But yes, after listening to the Police's version, Chris's version was lowly indeed.

This is one song i would wish i was credited to have written.
Roxanne is a about prostitution. Sad to say that in your country, some girls have to resort to doing such. That's just reality, but maybe someday we can do something about it

Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Those days are over
You don't have to sell your body to the night
Roxanne, you don't have to wear that dress tonight
Walk the streets for money
You don't care if it's wrong or if it's right

Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Put on the red light, put on the red light
Put on the red light, put on the red light
Put on the red light, oh

I loved you since I knew ya
I wouldn't talk down to ya
I have to tell you just how I feel
I won't share you with another boy
I know my mind is made up
So put away your make up
Told you once I won't tell you again it's a bad way

Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
You don't have to put on the red light
Put on the red light, put on the red light
