Would? by Alice in Chains

I remember encountering this song on a lazy saturday MTV show. They were showing a sort of 'best of mtv unplugged', a series of songs from the program. I was expecting them to show Pearl Jam's or Nirvana's as they were the guys i was more familiar with who did the show ( and Oasis too!) I didn't realized that i would be encountering another band from Seattle. Alice in Chains.

Layne Staley's stare and half scream made me realize that this AIC is not just a Grunge Band. IT WAS THE GRUNGE BAND!!

All the rock music that i listen to were the ones that my older brother fed to me! Once i got the opportunity, I asked my Mom to buy me a cassette of the Alice in Chains MTV Unplugged. When my brother heard me listening to this one, he was 'jealous' that he had not thought of listening to this band. I one upped him that time. A few years went when we were already collecting CDs, he brought home the same album on CD. This is one instance when it was I feeding him the music, instead of him feeding it to me. RIP Layne!

Know Me Broken By My Master Teach
Thee On Child Of Love Hereafter

Into The Flood Again
Same Old Trip It Was Back Then
So I Made A Big Mistake
Try To See It Once My Way

Drifting Body Its Sole Desertion
Flying Not Yet Quite The Notion

Am I Wrong?
Have I Run Too Far To Get Home?
Am I Gone?
And Left You Here Alone
If I Would Could You?

Shellshock by New Order

I typed this entry after listening to this song. WOW! i never really thought i'd enjoy a new wave song like this song has made me. It could be because of the overall sound (i really like the way a synth sounds), it sounds too complicated at times. Cool lyrics too, i can really appreciate the chorus!

That's the way - Shellshock

Hold on!It's never enough
It's never enough until your heart stops beating
The deeper you get, the sweeter the pain
Don't give up the game until your heart stops beating

You call me on the phone, you left me all alone
All I get from you is shellshock
Another day goes by and all I do is cry
All I get from you is shellshock

I'd tell the world and save my soul
But rain falls down and I feel cold
A cold that sleeps within my heart
It tears the earth and sun apart

But that's the way that I can win
A victim of your evil sin
You've lost the hold you've had on me
By causing the changes that you never see

Hold on! It's never enough
It's never enough until your heart stops beating
The deeper you get, the sweeter the pain
Don't give up the game until your heart stops beating

When we walk through open doorways,
Counting time in one or more ways
We can't find our peace of mind
And life becomes a life of crime

And that's the day I call your name
I came to you, I called in vain
You lost the faith within your heart
The fire in your soul from the end to the start

Hold on!It's never enough
It's never enough until your heart stops beating
The deeper you get, the sweeter the pain
Don't give up the game until your heart stops beating

I've been good and I've been bad
But common sense I've never had
No matter how I try and try,
I hide the truth behind a lie

But that's the way that I can win
A victim of your evil sin
You lost the faith within your heart
The fire in your soul from the end to the start

Hold on!It's never enough
It's never enough until your heart stops beating
The deeper you get, the sweeter the pain
Don't give up the game until your heart stops beating

Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by George Harrison

George Harrison was never my favorite Beatle. As a kid that was brought up with a fascination with the Beatles ( my dad avidly listened to them), it was always about John and Paul, never about George and Ringo ( Ringo even had more clout as he is a drummer and kids love to see guys bang on drums). When I was trying to learn the guitar, i learned many things about this man. He wrote Something, which is said to be one of the best loved songs out there.

In this song, George plays a ukulele which, I read on a guitar magazine , he is a master of. Brainwashed also is his last album, im not sure though if this was released posthumously.
I don't want you
But I hate to lose you
You got me in between the devil and the deep blue sea

I forgive you
Cos I can't forget you
You've got me in between the devil and the deep blue sea

I want to cross you off my list
But when you come knocking at my door
Fate seems to give my heart a twist
And I come running back for more

I should hate you
But I guess I love you
You've got me in between the devil and the deep blue sea

I want to cross you off my list
But when you come knocking at my door
Fate seems to give my heart a twist
And I come running back for more

I should hate you
But I guess I love you
You've got me in between the devil and the deep blue sea

You've got me in between
The devil and the deep (The devil and the deep)
The devil and the deep blue sea

E-Bow the Letter by R.E.M.

What does this song remind me of? Going home early during 2nd year HS and watching MTV. I don't know what attracted me to this song. To be honest, it's one of those songs I just don't get. However I fell in love it. Maybe it's because of the overall sound it gave, it sounded lonely. Patty Smith's voice is chilling too! I was looking for the album all over, when I saw one, I grabbed unto it dearly. Just maybe, after I write this, I'll make sense of it.

Look up, what do you see?
All of you and all of me
Fluorescent and starry
Some of them, they surprise
The bus ride, I went to write this, 4:00 a.m.
This letter

Fields of poppies, little pearls
All the boys and all the girls sweet-toothed
Each and every one a little scary
I said your name

I wore it like a badge of teenage film stars
Hash bars, cherry mash and tinfoil tiaras
Dreaming of Maria Callas
Whoever she is

This fame thing, I don't get it
I wrap my hand in plastic to try to look through it
Maybelline eyes and girl-as-boy moves
I can take you far
This star thing, I don't get it

I'll take you over, there
I'll take you over, there
Aluminum, tastes like fear
Adrenaline, it pulls us near

I'll take you over
It tastes like fear, there
I'll take you over

Will you live to 83?
Will you ever welcome me?
Will you show me something that nobody else has seen?
Smoke it, drink

Here comes the flood
Anything to thin the blood
These corrosives do their magic slowly and sweet
Phone, eat it, drink
Just another chink
Cuts and dents, they catch the light
Aluminum, the weakest link

I don't want to disappoint you
I'm not here to anoint you
I would lick your feet
But is that the sickest move?
I wear my own crown and sadness and sorrow
And who'd have thought tomorrow could be so strange?

My loss, and here we go again
I'll take you over, there
I'll take you over, there
Aluminum, tastes like fear
Adrenaline, it pulls us near

I'll take you over
It tastes like fear, there
I'll take you over

Look up, what do you see?
All of you and all of me
Fluorescent and starry
Some of them, they surprise

I can't look it in the eyes
Seconal, Spanish fly, absinthe, kerosene
Cherry-flavored neck and collar
I can smell the sorrow on your breath
The sweat, the victory and sorrow
The smell of fear, I got it

I'll take you over, there
I'll take you over, there
Aluminum, tastes like fear
Adrenaline, it pulls us near

I'll take you over
It tastes like fear, there
I'll take you over
Pulls us near
Tastes like fear.
Nearer, nearer
Over, over, over, over
Yeah, look over
I'll take you there, oh, yeah
I'll take you there
Oh, over
I'll take you there
Over, let me
I'll take you there..
There, there, baby, yeah

Get Up and Go by Hanson

Yes... I am a fan of Hanson, but not since their mmmbop days. I was awestruck by 'Penny and Me' from their Underneath album and decided to go for it since it was available at a discount. Never was I expecting to encounter this collection of songs, from a band once marketed to compete with boybands. Get Up and Go is one of the catchiest songs I've heard from a while. Hanson is a lot better than most rock bands out there, and i now regret missing them when they hit the Philippine shores.

She plays guitar with her fingertips
She'll play your heart with her tender lips
She'll work it out until she makes the tips
And it's alright, yeah it's alright

Holding her tight in late December
I look in the stars and I remember
She doesn't mind when you offend her
And it's alright, yeah it's alright

Just a girl like you, and maybe just a
Just a guy like me, maybe we
Could take a walk on the wild side
Take a look and see

Get up and go

Just a girl like you, and maybe just a
Just a guy like me, maybe we
Could take a walk on the wild side
Take a look and take a look and go

Get Up and Go

What could I give when you've got all you need
And she looks at me like all I want's a little free
Every time I look at you it makes me see
That it's alright, yeah it's alright

We'll get away be in love we can make it better
All I need's a little time for us to get together
Happiness is just a step away
When it's alright, yeah it's alright

Just a girl like you, and maybe just a
Just a guy like me, maybe we
Could take a walk on the wild side
Take a look and see

Get up and go

Just a girl like you, and maybe just a
Just a guy like me, maybe we
Could take a walk on the wild side

Take a look and take a look and go
Ooh oh, ooh oh, won't you go
Ooh oh, ooh oh, won't you go
Ooh oh, ooh oh, won't you go

Take a look and, take a look and go

Seems like love has always found a way
But there's only so many hours in the day
All that I know is that you're here with me
And it's alright, yeah it's alright

Won't you tell me that you need me so bad
'Cause you are everything I've never had
Every time I look at you it hurts so bad
And it's alright, yeah it's alright

Just a girl like you, and maybe just a
Just a guy like me, maybe we
Could take a walk on the wild side
Take a look and see

Get up and go

Just a girl like you, and maybe just a
Just a guy like me, maybe we
Could take a walk on the wild side
Take a look and take a look and go

Get up and go

True by Spandau Ballet

Now True is a very good song by Spandau Ballet. However what makes this song memorable for me is because it was featured in one of my favorite movies of all-time.... Sixteen Candles. The movie featured one of my childhood crushes (and still is) Molly Ringwald.

Back in my high school days there was this girl who in my eyes looked like 'Molly Ringwald'. Actually we also shared the same elementary school. I still remember my buddy pointing her out in the school
quadrangle, saying she was the4th Grade version of our classmate (we were in grade 5 then). She was cute and thin... and beautiful. Too bad i didn't have the guts to say to here how important she is in my life (all of my crushes are). Noella... this is for you!

So true Funny how it seems
Always in time,
but never in line for dreams
Head over heels, when toe to toe

This is the sound of my soul
This is the sound

I bought a ticket to the world
But now Ive come back again
Why do I find it hard to write the next line
When I want the truth to be said

I know this much is true

With a thrill in my head and a pill on my tongue
Dissolve the nerves that have just begun
Listening to marvin all night long

This is the sound of my soul
This is the sound

Always slipping from my hands
Sands a time of ts own
Take your seaside arms
and write the next line
Oh I want the truth to be known

Harvester of Sorrow by Metallica

I would not act as if i know what this song is about... but i can honestly say that this is by favorite Metallica song of all time. I was particualry hooked on the intro riffs from Kirk Hammett and also the guitar solo part.

You might think i'm crazy every time i put this song on. I've always imagined doing a rap-metal cover of this song. I could have been a show stealer during Metallica's MTV Icon episode!!

My life suffocates
Planting seeds of hate
Ive loved, turned to hate
Trapped far beyond my fate

I give
You take
This life that I forsake
Been cheated of my youth
You turned this lie to truth

Anger
Misery
Youll suffer unto me

Harvester of sorrow
Language of the mad
Harvester of sorrow

Pure black looking clear
My work is done soon here
Try getting back to me
Get back which used to be

Drink up
Shoot in
Let the beatings begin
Distributor of pain
Your loss becomes my gain

Anger
Misery
Youll suffer unto me

Harvester of sorrow
Language of the mad
Harvester of sorrow

All have said their prayers
Invade their nightmares
See into my eyes
Youll find where murder lies

Infanticide

Harvester of sorrow
Language of the mad
Harvester of sorrow
Language of the mad
Harvester of sorrow

Roxanne by The Police

I neve appreciated this song, until lowly Rockstar:Supernova Contestant Chris Pierson sang this as his 1st piece. Tommy Lee, Gilby Clarke and Jason Newsted said that his version was short of disgusting dismissing him in the first episdoe, but it made me appreciate the song, because of his standard rock arrangement instead of Police's tango cadence. But yes, after listening to the Police's version, Chris's version was lowly indeed.

This is one song i would wish i was credited to have written.
Roxanne is a about prostitution. Sad to say that in your country, some girls have to resort to doing such. That's just reality, but maybe someday we can do something about it

Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Those days are over
You don't have to sell your body to the night
Roxanne, you don't have to wear that dress tonight
Walk the streets for money
You don't care if it's wrong or if it's right

Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Put on the red light, put on the red light
Put on the red light, put on the red light
Put on the red light, oh

I loved you since I knew ya
I wouldn't talk down to ya
I have to tell you just how I feel
I won't share you with another boy
I know my mind is made up
So put away your make up
Told you once I won't tell you again it's a bad way

Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
You don't have to put on the red light
Put on the red light, put on the red light

Hand In My Pocket by Alanis Morissette

I remember hearing this song on the radio while getting ready for school, 1st year high school as i remember it... it played for what seems to be a month along with the Bilanggo song by Rizal Underground. I have no idea this was a BIG song back then, placing Alanis Morissette among music elite. She would have other hits from the Jagged Little Pill album, but this is the only one placed in my videoke list :)

I'm broke but I'm happy I'm poor but I'm kind I'm short but I'm healthy, yeah
I'm high but I'm grounded I'm sane but I'm overwhelmed I'm lost but I'm hopeful baby
What it all comes down to Is that everything's gonna be fine fine fine I've got one hand in my pocket And the other one is giving a high five
I feel drunk but I'm sober I'm young and I'm underpaid I'm tired but I'm working, yeah
I care but I'm restless I'm here but I'm really gone I'm wrong and I'm sorry baby
What it all comes down to Is that everything's gonna be quite alright I've got one hand in my pocket And the other one is flicking a cigarette
And what it all comes down to Is that I haven't got it all figured out just yet I've got one hand in my pocket And the other one is giving the peace sign
I'm free but I'm focused I'm green but I'm wise I'm hard but I'm friendly baby
I'm sad but I'm laughing I'm brave but I'm chickenshit I'm sick but I'm pretty baby
And what it all boils down to Is that no one's really got it figured out just yet I've got one hand in my pocketAnd the other one is playing the piano
And what it all comes down to my friends Is that everything's just fine fine fine I've got one hand in my pocket And the other one is hailing a taxi cab

Nobody Like You by Limp Bizkit

YES! I listened to Limp Bizkit and is proud to say that i am and still is a fan of their work. 'Nobody Like You' is not one of their famous works but it stands out for me. Not because Jon Davis sings with Fred Durst on this, I like this because of the mood and the vibe it gave me, during my less happier times. It's an angry song i guess.

I'm convinced that you hate me
You like to see me cry
Its already a proven fact
And you wait and wait on me to die

Its all scary
I find it hard to confide
I will make you see it my way
You give
I take
You say
You want to be away from me

You make me
I've got a reason and I want to know
You take me down I've got a reason and I want to know

I'm convinced that you fucked me real good
You did (you did)
But I wont let her go
I've got my reasons
And I'm not leavin
So I'll wait on you to die

Please take this time for me to be unforgiven
I give my life to you
I lay my life on the line for you

You make me
I've got a reason and I want to know
You take me down I've got a reason and I want to know

I got no reason
I got no reason
I got no reason
I got no reason

New Deep by John Mayer

I was not actually a fan of John Mayer from the start. I remember my buddy of mine DRIS, talking about this guy as sort of the 'IN' thing happening in the world of rock. While I bought my Creed 'My Own Prison' CD, he was giddy about listening to John Mayer's 'Room for Squares' wearing a smirk in his face as he put down P450 in the record bar's counter. This song is from John Mayer's 2nd album (3rd if you're too much of a prick). What endeared me to John Mayer's music?!? Well this particular song was used in a video that was prepared for the 10th yr reunion of my elementary class. The INTRO's not bad either!

I'm so alive
I'm so enlightened

I can barely survive

A night in my mind

I've got a plan

I'm gonna find out just how boring I am

And have a good time

Cause ever since I tried
Trying not to find

Every little meaning in my life

It's been fine

I've been cool

With my new golden rule

Numb is the new deep
Done with the old me

And talk is the same cheap it's been

Is there a God?
Why is he waiting?

Don't you think of it odd

When he knows my inner dwellings?

And look at the stars

Don't it remind you just how feeble we are?

Well it used to, I guess

Cause ever since I tried
Trying not to find

Every little meaning in my life

It's been fine

I've been cool

With my new golden rule

Numb is the new deep
Done with the old me

And talk is the same cheap it's been

I'm a new man
I wear a new cologne and

You wouldn't know me if your eyes were closed

I know what you'll say

'This won't last longer than the rest of the day'

But you're wrong this time

Numb is the new deep
Done with the old me

I'm over the analyzing

Tonight

Stop trying to figure it out
Deep will only bring you down

You know, I used to be the back porch poet with a book of rhymes

Always open knowing all the time I'm probably

Never gonna find the perfect rhyme

For 'heavier things'

Blue on Black by Kenny Wayne Shepherd

I actually never have been fond of the music genre they called 'blues' back then. My misconception is that blues is boring and sang by old black folks. Oh boy, I realized i was dead wrong when i encountered this song on TV. The music video featured a pretty girl (which actually got my attention). I really love the guitar solo on this one, and the tone is what i would like to emulate.

Night
falls, I'm alone
Skin, yeah, chilled me to the bone
You, turned and you ran,
Oh, slipped right from my hand

Hey
Blue on black, tears on a river
Push on a shove, it don't mean much
Joker on Jack, Match on a fire
Cold on ice, its a dead man's touch.
Whisper on a scream, doesn't change a thing
Don't bring you back
Blue on black

Blind, oh,
now I see
truth, lies, and in between.
Wrong, can't be undone
Oh Slipped,
from the tip of your tongue

Hey
Blue on black, tears on a river
Push on a shove, it don't mean much
Joker on Jack, Match on a fire
Cold on ice, its a dead man's touch.
Whisper on a scream, doesn't change a thing
Don't bring you back
Blue on black

Blue on black, tears on a river
Push on a shove, it don't mean much
Joker on Jack Match on a fire
Cold on ice, its a dead man's touch.
Whisper on a scream, doesn't change a thing
Don't bring you back,
Blue on black
oh yeah
Blue on Black

Blue on black, tears on a river
Push on a shove, it don't mean much
Joker on Jack, Match on a fire
Cold on ice its a dead man's touch.
Whisper on a scream,
doesn't change a thing
Doesn't bring you back
Blue on black
blue on black
blue on black
blue on black

Stateline by Butch Walker

What i really love about Butch Walker's "Letters" album, is that it actually feels like one, a series of letters, a sort of confession to the listening fans, most of which could feel the same heartfelt emotion he feels while singing his songs.

A bonus track from the said album, Stateline is the perferct encore. I would suggest you listen to the song and you'll get what i mean.

Seven Hours till the moon sleeps
I Lose my mind as I drive away
Your Cigarettes are in the back seat
I cant bring myself to throw away

All of the film in the camera that took
all the pictures of the images in my mind

So I'll drive a straight line
Right across the state line
Out on to the ocean, in a moment I'll be gone
Then you wont have to feel torn

Pass the churches filled with guilted faith
They send there hangovers from last night
Wont do me any good to pray, cause even god knows
that you were right

And I was wrong and yeah it kills me
that my kid will never know me, with another man by his side

So I'll drive a straight line
When I cross the state line
Out on to the ocean, in a moment I'll be gone
Then you wont have to feel torn

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

So I'll drive a straight line
When I cross the state line
Out on to the ocean, in a moment I'll be gone

So I'll drive a straight line
When I cross the state line
Out on to the ocean, in a moment I'll be gone

You wont have to feel torn
Have to feel torn

Thinking of you with my last breathe

The Most Beautiful Girl in the World by Prince

I'm addicted to Prince as of late and this song rocks in a different way. Probably the best compliment you could give to a girl. I never really gave a damn about this song before, but man, you could tell Prince was really smooth with the girls. I like the part wherein he goes from falseto to a really deep voice. Cool!

Could U be the most beautiful girl in the world?
It's plain 2 see U're the reason that God made a girl

When the day turns into the last day of all time
I can say I hope U are in these arms of mine
And when the night falls before that day I will cry
I will cry tears of joy cuz after U all one can do is die, oh

Could U be the most beautiful girl in the world?
Could U be?
It's plain 2 see U're the reason that God made a girl
Oh, yes U are

How can I get through days when I can't get through hours?
I can try but when I do I see U and I'm devoured, oh yes
Who'd allow, who'd allow a face 2 be soft as a flower? Oh
I could bow (bow down) and feel proud in the light of this power
Oh yes, oh

Could U be (could U be) the most beautiful girl in the world?
Could U be?
It's plain 2 see U're the reason that God made a girl
Oh, yes U are

And if the stars ever fell one by one from the sky
I know Mars could not be, uh, 2 far behind
Cuz baby, this kind of beauty has got no reason 2 ever be shy
Cuz honey, this kind of beauty is the kind that comes from inside

Could U be (could U be) the most beautiful girl in the world?
So beautiful, beautiful
It's plain 2 see (plain 2 see) U're the reason that God made a girl

Oh yeah! (Oh, yes U are)
Girl (Could U be?)
U must be... oh yeah!
(Could U be?)
U're the reason... oh yeah
(Could)

Fantasy by Mariah Carey

I remember this song, 3rd year High School i think. My brother came home with a Mariah Carey cassette and i tried to listen to it. This is the song that made an instant impression, probably as i was mostly into MTV and hip-hop then. A classic by my lowly standards. Just bought a copy of the daydream CD too for a measly 100 pesos. cool huh?

(Shoe do do do do do do do)
(Shoe do do do do do do yeah)

Oh, when you walk by every night
Talking sweet and looking fine
I get kinda hectic inside
Mmm, baby I'm so into you
Darling, if you only knew
All the things that flow through my mind

(But it's just a) sweet, sweet fantasy, baby
When I close my eyes
You come and you take me
(On and on and on)
So deep in my daydreams
But it's just a sweet, sweet fantasy, baby

(Shoe do do do do do do do)
(Shoe do do do do do do yeah)

Images of rapture
Creep into me slowly
As you're going to my head
And my heart beats faster
When you take me over
Time and time and time again

(But it's just a) sweet, sweet fantasy, baby
When I close my eyes
You come and you take me
(On and on and on)
So deep in my daydreams
But it's just a sweet, sweet fantasy, baby

(Shoe do do do do do do do)
(Shoe do do do do do do yeah)

(It's just a) sweet, sweet fantasy, baby
When I close my eyes
You come and you take me
(On and on and on)
So deep in my daydreams
But it's just a sweet, sweet fantasy, baby

I'm in heaven
With my boyfriend
My laughing boyfriend
There's no beginning
And there is no end
Feels like I'm dreaming
But I'm not sleeping

(It's just a) sweet, sweet fantasy, baby
When I close my eyes
You come and you take me
(On and on and on)
So deep in my daydreams
But it's just a sweet, sweet fantasy, baby

Sweet, sweet fantasy, baby
When I close my eyes
You come and you take me
(On and on and on)
So deep in my daydreams
But it's just a sweet, sweet fantasy, baby

Sweet, sweet fantasy, baby
Sweet, sweet fantasy, baby
(Shoe do do do do do do do)

Eager Angels by Session Road

Whoah... i think the title is a cliche. Easy on the lyrics... super simple. I dont like the speech part of the song really. But the hook's a killer. It did it's job... it hooked me on this song.

See you walking in
hurting from what have been
as your face draws back
and open up a sigh
i hate to break it in you
it’s the hardest thing she had to
but her words meant baby
everything is through
nanananana…nanananana…
nanananana…nanananana…

I watched upon the heavens
wait till you believe our moment is true

Like eager angels falling from heavens
i’d give it all up to share the pain with you
like eager angels falling from heaven
undaunted cause your love
will see me through

How can I make you feel
how i want to hold you near
i ache to feel your hand caress my soul
i’m standing next to you
my days no longer blue
i’d shed my wings to offer what is true
nanananana…nanananana…
nanananana…nanananana…

I watched upon the heavens
wait till you believe our moment is true

Like eager angels falling from heavens
i’d give it all up to share the pain with you
like eager angels falling from heaven
undaunted cause your love
will see me through

I still can taste the scent of your voice on my lips
every moment i close my eyes and breath you
it was a moment that would linger on in my stubborn disbelief
in the magic that was woven…stolen

Like eager angels …
like eager angels …
you’re my angel …
you’re my angel …

I remember owning a copy of this album... a cassette tape during high school. I really didn't like the album at first... but it really grew on me.

The song's about a guy... admiring a girl from afar. This is my story.

You are the best
That I’ve ever seen
Out from your apartment
And into my dreams
Up on the rooftop
The comets and me
One of ‘em tells me
You’re out of reach
Don’t turn your head this way.
I need a magic potion
To make you feel the same
Way that I feel
O, static photograph
(The one that you wouldn’t give to me)
Stolen from your best friend’s diary
(The one that I stole from her)
Talk to me
Talk to me!!!!
Beautificent scenery from seventeen rows behind you
I whisper a thought pretending you would hear
I was never gonna ever call you!
Was never gonna waste my time
Was never gonna see you
But I just changed my mind

Unemployed Boyfriend by Everclear

'nuff said!

[Answering machine:] “Hi, this is Peggy. Leave me a nice message or I'll kill ya."

“Hey Peggy, it's me. You are never going to believe what happened to me today. I'm sittin' at the unemployment office, waitin' on my loser of a caseworker, in one of those nasty chairs, when from out of nowhere, this total stranger walks right up to me, sits down, then leans over and says something like, ‘This is gonna sound a little obsessive.'"

This is gonna sound a little obsessive
This is gonna sound a little bit strange
I have one thing to say
Before I turn and I walk away

This is gonna sound a little impulsive
This is gonna sound a little insane
I know you don't know me yet
But you and I, we will be together someday
Someday
I know, I know, I sound like I'm on drugs
Listen to me when I say

That ever since when I first saw you
Sittin' on your car outside
You asked for a cigarette
I couldn't stop starin' at your eyes

Ever since when I first saw you
Looking bored in that plastic chair
With the lights of the office around you
Those blond streaks, they look so pretty in your black hair
You look cool and alternative with that disaffected stare
Yeah you want people to think that you just don't care

Hey you can be with me
Yeah 'cause I just might be the one
Who will treat you like you're perfect
Who will always make you come
Hey you can be with me
Yes I will always let you win
I will never be like those other guys
I will never be your unemployed boyfriend

“Can you believe he said that to me? To me, of all people! I can't even remember the last time a guy took me out on a date and actually paid for it!”

This is gonna sound a little bit out there
This is gonna sound a little insane
I keep having the same dream
You will be the mother of my children someday
Someday

I heard you sleep with that obnoxious guy
I know he is in that famous band
You look so sad when you are with him
Yes I never see him reach to hold your hand

Yeah you can be with me
Yes I will treat you like a queen
I will go to all those chick flick movies
That I really don't want to see
Yeah you can be with me
No I will never let you down
I will never make out with your girlfriend
When I know you're not around
Yes you can be with me
Yeah I just might be the one
Who will treat you like you're special
I will always make you come
You can be with me
Yes I will always let you win
I will never be like those other guys
I will never be like those other guys
I will never be your unemployed boyfriend

“Can you believe this? I mean, can this be for real?"

No!

"Then he takes my hand, writes down his number, and just walks away."

Whoa!

"I mean, wow. But you know, the weird thing is, he's actually kind of cute, in a really intense way. Kinda like Perry Farrell, you know. Intense, but sensitive. Anyway, I told my bitchy sister about it, and she just laughed at me. I told her I'm really excited about this! That I have a really good feeling about this guy! I told her, ‘This could be the guy.' I'm like.

Pardon Me by Incubus

The song and the band that broke my musical barriers. It was summer of 2000 when I chanced upon the music video of Pardon Me. I was into rap-metal at that time with the likes of KORN and Limp Bizkit. I've read in a magazine the band's name being thrown around by local artists as if it a license to be cool. If you were in to rap-metal in those day's you'd instantly feel that the other bands' vocalists were sissies compared to Brandon Boyd. After watching that particular video, my life was changed.

A decade ago, I never thought I would be,
at twenty three, on the verge of spontaneous combustion. Woe-is-me.
But I guess that it comes with the territory;
an ominous landscape of never ending calamity.
I need you to hear, I need you to see
that I have had all I can take and exploding seems like a definite possibility
to me.

So pardon me while I burst into flames.
I've had enough of the world and it's people's mindless games.
So pardon me while I burn and rise above the flame.
Pardon me, pardon me....I'll never be the same.

Not two days ago, I was having a look in a book
and I saw a picture of a guy fried up above his knees.
I said, "I can relate," cause' lately I've been thinking of combustication
as a welcomed vacation from the burdens of the planet earth.
Like gravity, hypocrisy, and the perils of being in 3-D...
and thinking so much differently.

So pardon me while I burst into flames.
I've had enough of the world and it's people's mindless games.
So pardon me while I burn and rise above the flame.
Pardon me, pardon me....I'll never be the same.

Missing Your Love by Jonny Lang

I was introduced to Jonny Lang through CNN back from the days when still have those Hollywood reports. The kids a guitar genius they say. Years after, I encountered his debut album... for P20 at that. Missing Your Love's your classic love song. Its just him, the guitar and his feelings. Remarkable considering that he was only 15 when he recorded this.

You lay me down, whisper in my ear
Well, it may be my name you call
But it's his name I hear

You promised me through thick and thin
You told me you loved me, you told me a lie
'cause you love him

And I'm missin' your love every day
I'm missin' your love every way
Though your here with me,
I'm still missin' your love

And when we talk, you look into my eyes
Your talkin to me but baby I can see
He's on your mind

And I'm missin' your love every day
I'm missin' your love every way
Though your here with me, I'm still missin' your love
I reach out for you and you turn away
It takes all I can do to make it through the day
And I'm missin' your love And I'm missin' your love every day
I'm missin' your love every way
Though your here with me,
I'm still missin' your love
