Never Mind by Colors

I was just reminded of this song yesterday, when I was whispering in my head the lyrics "never mind love" (Love is actually a misheard lyric on my part). In trying to find more information about this song and the band/artist you rendered it, I came on a blank. It seems that there's no solid information or album cover that can be culled out of the internet. Most likely this was one of those euro-dance-disco songs that were put in album packages. Hopefully the future would offer more information, but it's always awesome to have songs like this to bring you back to the past, albeit for about 3 minutes at a time.

Tonight it’s hard to stay on my own
I feel like taking a wall
I can stand the tricks that you play on me.

The time you first took a seat by me
You looked to me as you were a dream
And suddenly I made up my mind, oh.

By the look in your eyes
I knew it surprise
The times that we earned’s all over
Now I’m standing along still needing someone
Who’ll suddenly sweep the night away

Never mind her, never mind her
Never mind we’ll sweep the night away
Never mind her, never mind her
Never mind we’ll sweep the night away.

And it makes no difference to walk in a dream
‘Cause probably you changed your mind
I just can’t figure it out, oh.

And as minutes pass day by day
Spent searchin’ for a reason you ain’t gone
They say to me I can’t get my blood in veins.

By the look in your eyes
I knew it surprise
The times that we earned’s all over
Now I’m standing along still needing someone
Who’ll suddenly sweep the night away

Never mind her, never mind her
Never mind we’ll sweep the night away
Never mind her, never mind her
Never mind we’ll sweep the night away.

Stranger Things Have Happened by Foo Fighters

I haven't quite followed things with Foo Fighters after The Colour and the Shape as heavily as I used to before but I still consider myself a big fan of theirs, especially of Dave Grohl. During highschool, Dave Grohl and Noel Gallagher were two of my biggest heroes, until I got the hiphop/RnB bug during that time. Today was just the 1st time I really listed to Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace and this was one of the songs I had developed a liking for.

Goddamn this dusty room
This hazy afternoon
I'm breathing in this silence
Like never before

This feeling that I get
This one last cigarette
As I lay awake and wait
For you to come through that door

Oh, maybe, maybe, maybe
I can share it with you
I behave, I behave, I behave
So I can share it with you

You were not alone, dear loneliness
You forgot but I remember this
Oh stranger, stranger
Stranger things have happened, I know

I'm not alone, dear loneliness
I forgot that I remember this
Oh stranger, stranger
Stranger things have happened, I know

You'll dream about somewhere
A smoke will fill the air
As I lay awake and wait
For you to walk out that door

I can change, I can change, I can change
But who do you want me to be?
I'm the same, I'm the same, I'm the same
What do you want me to be?

You were not alone, dear loneliness
You forgot but I remember this
Oh stranger, stranger
Stranger things have happened, I know

I'm not alone, dear loneliness
I forgot that I remember this
You were not alone, dear loneliness
You forgot but I remember this
Oh stranger, stranger
Stranger things have happened, I know

I'm not alone, dear loneliness
I forgot that I remember this
Oh stranger, stranger
Stranger things have happened, I know

To Whom It May Concern by Creed

Creed was one of my favorite rock bands during college. I didn't realize that many don't like them that much, but I gained an appreciation of their music. I tried to learn Mark Tremonti's guitar parts when I was learning to play the guitar during those times, and spent a lot of time memorizing them. Once I had them down to pat, I'll play them over and over again. I had fun doing that.

This song appears in the Scorpion King movie, a spin-off of the successful The Mummy movie adventure series, which I bought back then primarily because of the Godsmack song. I'll write about that in another entry.

I've always thought I've already put this song in the blog. There's a good reason why I have been calling this song "Your Eyes" for a long time.

Oh, I didn't mean to yell
But sometimes I get beside myself
And oh, I didn't mean to rush you
But time keeps pushing so much
Oh, time keeps pushing so much

Your eyes stare at me in the dark
And I hope those eyes
Don't steal my freedom
My freedom

Oh, If I didn't give it all
When I stood you made me crawl
And oh, if you never heard the song
Then I could still hide down behind the wall
Then I could still hide down behind the wall

Your eyes stare at me in the dark
And I hope those eyes
Don't steal my freedom
My freedom
And I hope those eyes
Don't steal my freedom
My freedom

Said eyes, those eyes
I said don't steal my freedom

Your eyes stare at me in the dark
And I hope those eyes
Don't steal my freedom
My freedom Oh, my freedom
Your eyes stare at me in the dark
And I hope those eyes
Don't steal my freedom
My freedom Oh, my freedom
Said eyes, those eyes
Said eyes, those eyes
I said don't steal my freedom

Sumthin' Sumthin' by Maxwell

One of my favorite songs during high school. I like how it doesn't sound dated at all. Those are the best kind of songs.

When I started collecting for CDs these is one of the albums that I had trouble of hunting down. I saw a very good copy in Greenhills and didn't think twice if I should buy it or not.

If it's cool
We can do a little sumthin' sumthin'
Let me groove with you
So we can kick a little sumthin' sumthin'

Even though she pays me no attention
All I wanna show is my affection
Lose myself inside her ebony
But she ain't even checkin' me, oh yea

If it's cool
We can do a little sumthin' sumthin'
Let me groove with you
So we can kick a little sumthin' sumthin'

Honeydosugachoco dumplin' yeah
Sista with a certain sumthin' sumthin'
Flavor with a cocoa kinda flow
Baby, baby act like you know

So if it's cool, I wanna rock with you
Slip you my mellow smooth
Rock you until we're blue
Only, only if it's cool

If it's cool
We can do a little sumthin' sumthin'
Let me groove with you
So we can kick a little sumthin' sumthin'

So if it's cool, I wanna rock with you
Slip you my mellow smooth
Rock you until we're blue
Only, only if it's cool

If it's cool
We can do a little sumthin' sumthin'
Let me groove with you
So we can kick a little sumthin' sumthin'

If it's cool
We can do a little sumthin' sumthin'
Let me groove with you
So we can kick a little sumthin' sumthin'

Anthem for the Year 200 by Silverchair

If I remember correctly I saw the debut of this song on MTV Asia, I think the show was entitled Fresh. I didn't really think big of it that time but what I immediately appreciated was the song's intro and sort of downplayed playing in the verse parts.

Listening to it right now, I just noticed the presence of electronic instruments and the awesome guitar-effects laden riffing on this song.

We are the youth
We'll take your fascism away
We are the youth
Apologise for another day
We are the youth
And politicians are so sure
We are the youth
And we are knocking on death's door
Never knew we were living in a world
With a mind that could be so sure
Never knew we were living in a world
With a mind that could be so small
Never knew we were living in a world
And the world is an open court
Maybe we don't want to live in a world
Where innocence is so short
We'll make it up to you
In the year 2000 with...

Never knew we were living in a world
With a mind that could be so sure
Never knew we were living in a world
With a mind that could be so small
Never knew we were living in a world
And the world is an open court
Maybe we don't want to live in a world
Where innocence is so short

We'll make it up to you
In the year 2000
Build it up for you
In the year 2000
Make it up to you
In the year 2000
Build it up for you
In the year 2000 with you

Never knew we were living in a world
With a world that could be so sure
Never knew we were living in a world
With a mind that could be so small
Never knew we were living in a world
And the world is an open court
Maybe we don't want to live in a world
World who cares at all

We'll make it up to you
In the year 2000
Build it up for you
In the year 2000
Make it hard for you
In the year 2000
Build it up for you
In the year 2000
Make it hard for you
In the year 2000
Build it up for you
In the year 2000 with you

My Favorite Mistake by Sheryl Crow

For some reason I find the video for this Sheryl Crow song really sexy. That's what I thought of the video, even though she didn't show anything new. Maybe it's the face shots, it's the angles, its the vibe of the song.

But yeah, when I learned to appreciate Sheryl Crow's music, this was one of the songs I had to go back to just to appreciate more how good a song this is.

I woke up and called this morning
The tone of your voice was a warning
That you don't care for me anymore

I made up the bed we sleep in
I looked at the clock when you creep in
It's 6 a.m. and I'm alone

Did you know when you go it's the perfect ending
To the bad day I was just beginning
When you go all I know is you're my favorite mistake

Your friends are sorry for me
They watch you pretend to adore me
But I'm no fool to this game

Now here comes your secret lover
She'd be unlike any other
Until your guilt goes up in flames

Did you know when you go it's the perfect ending
To the bad day I'd gotten used to spending
When you go all I know is you're my favorite mistake

You're my favorite mistake

Well maybe nothin' lasts forever
Even when you stay together
I don't need forever after
It's your laughter won't let me go
So I'm holding on this way

Did you know, could you tell
You were the only one
That I ever loved
Now everything's so wrong

Did you see me walking by?
Did it ever make you cry?

You're my favorite mistake
You're my favorite mistake
You're my favorite mistake

Be Strong Now by James Iha

I found out about this again, from MTV. For some reason, I'm the only one I know who didn't listen to NU when during my formative years. But yeah, saw this in MTV. There must have been a quirk in their programming that day. Unlikely, maybe they were just trying to take advantage of being able to sell James Iha as a former Smashing Pumpkins member.

I didn't know his name when I actually saw the video, but I liked the song enough to take note. And here I am now presenting it to you.

Little darling belle with such a fragile shell
In the powerful way that love seems to make her
All regret it now
and if she'd only say what's wrong
She can't go on

You've got to be strong now
And if I come and hold you now
You'll be safe and sound

Little lonely face that no one ever sees
You see the thing she believes is life is bittersweet if
She'd open up to me,
And its the only thing she dreams,
you gotta believe

You've got to be strong now
And if I come and hold you now
You've got to be strong now
If I hold you now
If I hold you now
if I hold you now

Ooh God if I could change a thing tonight
We won't be lonely
Ooh god if I could change a thing
Why does it have to be this way

You've got to be strong now
And if I come and hold you now
You've got to be strong now
if i hold you now
if i hold you now

Pride by Damageplan

Another song that was introduced to me by my older brother. He was a big fan of Pantera so one day he pulls this out of nowhere and plays it in our trusty pioneer cd player. Rest is history.

And yeah, those are face-punching, gut-wrenching riffs and guitar solo by Dimebag.

I'm sickened
I know I've been betrayed but I keep ignoring
The warning signs

You tell me
That I'm not beneath you but you act above me
Knives in my spine

Now with all the money in the world
You can't buy my respect
Yeah, it's just a matter of pride
But that's all I've got left

I reach up for your hand as you stand
Looking down on me but
You turn your back

I believed you
Now everything that we had that I thought was sacred
Has turned to black

Now with all the money in the world
You can't buy my respect
Yeah, it's just a matter of pride
But that's all I've got left

We Should Always Be Together by Billy Goodrum

My older brother, Augy bought a sound track of the Kingpin movie, one which we both can't stop laughing about. If I remember correctly we saw this from the Cinemax channel, the not-so-mainstream movie channel of HBO. We'd be hanging around the sofa and just laugh about the movie whenever we saw it. There were many songs that I liked from the soundtrack like Superman by the punk-ska band Goldfinger (which also appeared in the 1st Tony Hawk: Pro Skater video game) and the song by Josh Clayton Felt.

I don't actually remember the scene from the movie this song plays, but for me this was the highlight of the album. I liked it so much that I placed it in a  mix-tape (a CDs actually, no make that 2 CDs) that I gave to a girl I really had a crush on.

I don't wanna go
I wanna stay with you forever
Hold me in your arms
Let me feel your beating heart
We should always be together

I don't want to leave you
Even for a minute
I couldn't stand to live my life
A single day without you in it
They say that time heals all wounds
But I can't wait for later
Anyway, I'm afraid if I walk away
This time it could be fatal

I don't want you to be
Just another memory
That keeps me awake at night
Leaves me tryin' to hold on to
Tryin' to get you back into my life

I don't wanna go
You have to drag me off in chains
Don't leave me in the dark
Don't let me drift too far
You know I couldn't stand the pain

Yeah we should always always be together
Yeah we should always always be together

High Horse by Grand Funk Railroad

I found out about Grand Funk Railroad while reading Guitar World Magazine. If I remember correctly it was about the rock albums released during the year 1969. GFR's On Time was one of those, released during August of 1969.

It's just recently that I was able to take a listen. Grand Funk Railroad albums are hard to come by in Manila .

Ain't no doctor, who can help the way I feel?
Once you got her, boy, she lets you know it's real

Learn to love her or the opposite is right
To rise above her, you'll be so high you're out of sight

Feel so good, yeah, that you never want to come down
But you should, yeah, if you want to stay around

Ape Dos Mil by Glassjaw

Glassjaw's a band who's name I frequently read or hear about, but I actually haven't heard of.

I remember asking the person I bought my 1st bass from (a Washburn 5 string bantam series) on what music he listens to and he said Glassjaw. One of the more respectable person in the local forums is named glassjaw as well.

That changed around  June of this year when I got a new tattoo and the tattoo shop's artist/owner were playing this song. I like what I heard so this song is in here.

Yeah it's over,
You can bet in mid-October,
I will still be ranting 'bout most early May.
Yeah, he's a winner,
He's a goddamn sinner.
While he dines among the wrong side of the day.
And I said, "I don't understand why I'm fumbling after"
You're the reason I cannot forget this season,
Or the letter when you first referred to eight.
And I said,

It's all calypso.
But it's not easy to know.
You walk 'round with your shoulders down frowning,
It's not easy to know.

Yeah, it's over.
You can bet when mid-October end's I'll still be ranting 'bout most early May.
See yeah, he's a winner.
He's a goddamn sinner.
While he dines among the wrong side of the day.
And I said, "I don't understand why I'm fumbling after"
Yeah, you're the reason I cannot forget this season,
Or the lesson how an ape shall not kill ape.
And I said,

It's all calypso.
But it's not easy to know.
You walk 'round with your shoulders down frowning,
It's not easy to know.

It's just a tango.
But it's not easy to show.
I wonder 'round with my horns out now,
But it's not easy to know.

I.. I.. I.. I..
I'm going under,
I'm going under,
I'm going under.

You can't trust a man who's a governor
Ape can't trust man.
You can't trust a man with a gun at all.
Ape can't trust me.

You can't trust me.

It's all calypso.
But it's not easy to know.
You walk 'round with your shoulders down frowning,
It's not easy to know.

It's just a tango.
But it's not easy to show.
I walk 'round with my horns out now,
But it's not easy to show.

How could you heal?
If you don't ease back the blame.
Knowing you're right, won't you heal?
How could you heal?
If you don't ease back the blame.
Knowing you're right, won't you heal?

Jaded by Aerosmith

This song appeared out of my head this week. I don't know the reason why. I remembered watching MTV and listening to this during high school, but apparently my memory fails me. Checking on the internet this was released on the year 2001, I was already in college. Maybe I've confused it with Aerosmith's other album.

I and Astrud saw Aerosmith a few months back. All I can really say is that I had a great time. It's probably one of my top 5 concerts. Even at their age Aerosmith doesn't hold back. When they played this song and the arena just popped. I'm not a big-big-big Aerosmith fan but I went because it's not every time Aerosmith comes to Manila.

As in most cases, the video for this song features a pretty girl, which turns out to be Mila Kunis. Back then I didn't care, I just agreed that she's pretty.

Hey j-j-jaded, you got your mama's style
But you're yesterday's child to me
So jaded
You think that's where it's at
But is that where it's supposed to be
You're gettin' it all over me, ex-rated

My my baby blue
Yeah I been thinkin' about you
My my baby blue
Yeah you're so jaded
And I'm the one that jaded you

Hey j-j-jaded
In all it's misery
It will always be what I love and hated
And maybe take a ride to the other side
We're thinkin' of
We'll slip into the velvet glove
And be jaded

My my baby blue
Yeah I'm thinkin' about you
My my baby blue
Yeah I'm so jaded
And baby I'm afraid of you

Your thinking's so complicated
I've had it all up to here
But it's so overrated
Love and hated
Wouldn't trade it
Love me jaded

Hey j-j-jaded
There ain't no baby please
When I'm shootin' the breeze with her
When everything you see is a blur
And ecstasy's what you prefer

My my baby blue
Yeah I'm talkin' about you
My my baby blue
Yeah I've been thinkin' about you
My my baby blue
Yeah you're so jaded
Baby
Jaded
Baby
You're so jaded
'Cause I'm the one that jaded you

Tomorrow Never Knows by the Beatles

For as long as I can remember, I've been a Beatles fan. This was because of the fact that my father liked the Beatles and most cassette tapes available are albums by the Beatles.

Revolver stands out for me. This was because from the eyes of the kid version of myself, the album cover has a drawing of a fuzzy mountain and hairy armpits.  I think I was already in college when I realized that the cover actually showed an illustrated version of John, Paul, George and Ringo's face.

For this week, this song has been stuck in my head. Maybe because I'm currently reading Bob Spitz's The Beatles book for my night reading. I won't be ashamed of the fact that I didn't know this song's title before. I previously thought that Tomorrow Never Knows would be nostalgic or romantic. I just now have come to grips that that's the title of one of the most evolutionary songs the Beatles ever came up with.

Turn off your mind relax and float down stream
It is not dying
It is not dying

Lay down all thoughts,
surrender to the void,
It is shining
It is shining.

Yet you may see the meaning of within
It is being
It is being

Love is all and love is everyone
It is knowing
It is knowing

And ignorance and hate, they mourn the dead
It is believing
It is believing

But listen to the colour of your dreams
It is not leaving
It is not leaving

So play the game "Existence" to the end
Of the beginning
Of the beginning

Domino by Jessie J

I like the energy of this song. It never fails to make me want to go and dance!

I'm feeling sexy and free
Like glitter's raining on me
You like a shot of pure gold
I think I'm 'bout to explode

I can taste the tension like a cloud of smoke in the air
Now I'm breathing like I'm running cause you're taking me there
Don't you know
you spin me out of control

We can do this all night
Turn this club, skin tight
Baby, come on!
Pull me like a bass drum
Sparkin' up a rhythm
Baby, come on!

Rock my world into the sunlight
Make this dream the best I've ever known
Dirty dancing in the moonlight
Take me down like I'm a domino
Every second is a highlight
When we touch don't ever let me go
Dirty dancing in the moonlight
Take me down like I'm a domino

You got me loosing my mind
My heart beats out of time
I'm seeing Hollywood stars
You stroke me like a guitar

I can taste the tension like a cloud of smoke in the air
Now I'm breathing like I'm running cause you're taking me there

Don't you know
you spin me out of control

We can do this all night
Turn this club, skin tight
Baby, come on!
Pull me like a bass drum
Sparkin' up a rhythm
Baby, come on!

Rock my world into the sunlight
Make this dream the best I've ever known
Dirty dancing in the moonlight
Take me down like I'm a domino
Every second is a highlight
When we touch don't ever let me go
Dirty dancing in the moonlight
Take me down like I'm a domino

Ooh baby baby got me feeling so right
Ooh baby baby dancing in the moonlight

Rock my world into the sunlight
Make this dream the best I've ever known
Dirty dancing in the moonlight
Take me down like I'm a domino
Every second is a highlight
When we touch don't ever let me go
Dirty dancing in the moonlight
Take me down like I'm a domino

Just Give Me A Reason by Pink featuring Nate Ruess

I first encountered this song from one of my team mates at work, Maney. She has a habit of playing a song she likes over and over and over again and we teased her about it. It was funny though that after having to listen to this song for a whole work Friday, Monday came and I actually looked for the song in youtube and gave it a listen.

The song has a great hook and is solidly built under Pink's and Nate Ruess's voice.

I like how the song builds up to the 1st chorus and no longer let's up. And the lyrics, especially the chorus parts "just a little bit's enough and "we're not broken we're just bent". Simply it's magic.

I'm honestly glad that Pink's career has survived this long. I remember first seeing her in MTV back when i was in late high school or early college. That's a long time really. I just want to thank her and her collaborators for this song.

Right from the start you were a thief
You stole my heart
And I your willing victim
I let you see the parts of me
That weren't all that pretty
And with every touch you fixed them

Now you've been talking in your sleep, oh, oh
Things you never say to me, oh, oh
Tell me that you've had enough
Of our love, our love

Just give me a reason
Just a little bit's enough
Just a second we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again

It's in the stars
It's been written in the scars on our hearts
We're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again

I'm sorry I don't understand where all of this is coming from
I thought that we were fine (Oh, we had everything)
Your head is running wild again
My dear we still have everythin'
And it's all in your mind (Yeah, but this is happenin')

You've been havin' real bad dreams, oh, oh
You used to lie so close to me, oh, oh
There's nothing more than empty sheets
Between our love, our love
Oh, our love, our love

Just give me a reason
Just a little bit's enough
Just a second we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again

And I never stopped you're still written in the scars on my heart
You're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again
Oh, tear ducts and rust
I'll fix it for us
We're collecting dust but our love's enough

You're holding it in
You're pouring a drink
No nothing is as bad as it seems
We'll come clean

Just give me a reason
Just a little bit's enough
Just a second we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again
It's in the stars
It's been written in the scars on our hearts
That we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again

Just give me a reason
Just a little bit's enough
Just a second we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again
It's in the stars
It's been written in the scars on our hearts
That we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again

Oh, we can learn to love again
Oh, we can learn to love again

Oh, oh, that we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again

If It Makes You Happy by Sheryl Crow

This was on rotation on MTV while i was in high school. I distinctly remember attending a school event wherein this was performed by a fellow student. I can't remember who she was but her performance was what I remembered after I grew an appreciation for Sheryl Crow's music during my college years.

One thing I remember about the song as well is that Sheryl Crow wore a short skirt for the video. Something that a guy during his adolescent years will keenly remember.

I've been long, a long way from here
Put on a poncho, played for mosquitoes,
And drank til I was thirsty again
We went searching through thrift store jungles
Found Geronimo's rifle, Marilyn's shampoo
And Benny Goodman's corset and pen

Well, O.K. I made this up
I promised you I'd never give up

If it makes you happy
It can't be that bad
If it makes you happy
Then why the hell are you so sad

You get down, real low down
You listen to Coltrane, derail your own train
Well who hasn't been there before?
I come round, around the hard way
Bring you comics in bed, scrape the mold off the bread
And serve you french toast again

Well, O.K. I still get stoned
I'm not the kind of girl you'd take home

If it makes you happy
It can't be that bad
If it makes you happy
Then why the hell are you so sad

We've been far, far away from here
Put on a poncho, played for mosquitoes
And everywhere in between
Well, O.K. we get along
So what if right now everything's wrong?

If it makes you happy
It can't be that bad
If it makes you happy
Then why the hell are you so sad

Cold Brains by Beck

I came across this song while putting my iPod into shuffle mode. I downloaded Beck albums back when the band I was playing with jammed a couple of Beck songs.

Given a steady back-beat, driving bass and decent acoustic guitar work a few harmonica lines, Beck makes the most out of a relatively simple production.

Cold brains,
Unmoved,
Untouched,
Unglued
Alone at last

No thoughts,
No mind
To rot
Behind
A trail of disasters

A final curse
Abandon hearse
We ride disowned
Corroded to the bone

The fields of green
Are bent, obscene
I lay upon the gravel

A worm of hope
A hangman's rope
Pulls me one way or the other

A final curse
Abandoned hearse
We write this song
Corroded to the bone

A bird of song
Is heard no longer
In the evacuated heavens

The drain is drawn
And drained and gone
And on and on, it doesn't matter

A final curse
Abandoned hearse
We ride this old
Corroded to the bone

Rhinoceros by Smashing Pumpkins

I owned a copy of the Gish album for more than 3 years now, but I just started to appreciate it. I started to appreciate Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins more after really listening to the song Drown. Rhinoceros has a similar feel and features a buzzing guitar solo, similar to ones that I've grown fond of from Kurt Cobain.

Planned a show
Trees and Balloons
Ice cream snow
See you in June

Could have known
I would reveal
Should have known
I would conceal your way

She knows, she knows, she knows
She knows, she knows, she knows
How's it
She knows, she knows, she knows

Colors show
After the moon
I should go
See you in June
Your way

Open your eyes
To these must I lie?

Mukhang Pera By The Youth

I have totally forgotten about this song and had the chance to listen to it again when I rode my officemate's car on the way to a team outing activity. It's too bad that the Youth met it's demise early on it's career. The song has great and thought provoking lyrics, great guitar work and the bass lines are top notch. It's one of the songs that really brings me back to those days.

Mukhang pera

Mundo'y umiikot sa pera
Mukha kang pera
Kamukha ka ni Ninoy
Mukha kang pera

Kamukha ka ni Ninoy
Kamukha ka ni Ninoy

Take a Picture by Filter

Me and Astrud were spending our weekend on Lilom Resort in Batangas. The place was picturesque and as I was going to go for a bathroom break, this song suddenly came to my head. I had this love and hate thing about taking pictures. I believe there are moments that are meant to live in our heads and not immortalized by pictures. That's just the way I really am I guess.

Awake on my airplane
Awake on my airplane
My skin is bare
My skin is theirs
Awake on my airplane
Awake on my airplane
My skin is bare
My skin is theirs

I feel like newborn
And I feel like a newborn
Awake on my airplane
Awake on my airplane
I feel so real

Could you take my picture
Cause I won't remember
Could you take my picture
Cause I won't remember
Could you take my picture
Cause I won't remember
Could you take my picture
Cause I won't remember - yeah

I don't believe in
I don't believe in your sanctity your prophecy
I don't believe inI don't believe in sanctity or hypocrisy
Can everyone agree that no one should be left alone
Can everyone agree that they should not be left alone
And I feel like a newborn
And I feel like a newborn (kicking and screaming)

Could you take my picture
Cause I won't remember
Could you take my picture
Cause I won't remember
Could you take my picture
Cause I won't remember
Could you take my picture
Cause I won't remember - yeah

Hey dad what do you think about your son now?
Hey dad what do you think about your son now?

Could you take my picture
Cause I won't remember
Could you take my picture
Cause I won't remember
Could you take my picture
Cause I won't remember
Could you take my picture
Cause I won't remember
Could you take my picture
Cause I won't remember
Could you take my picture
Cause I won't remember - yeah

Seasons by Chris Cornell

I've recently re-discovered Chris Cornell and increased my appreciation for this wonderful vocalist. The reason was his part in the Pearl Jam documentary, PJ20, in which he appeared speaking in park primarily as one of the key figures in the Seattle/Grunge movement during the early 90s.

I actually saw a few months back the Singles movie on whose soundtrack this song appears, but that rekindled appreciation for another artist (specifically Paul Westerberg).

This is, however, my first time appreciating this song. I'm just amazed on how beautiful it is considering the fact it just has an acoustic guitar and Cornell's voice.

Summer nights and long warm days
Are stolen as the old moon falls
My mirror shows another face
Another place to hide it all
Another place to hide it all

And I'm lost, behind
The words I'll never find
And I'm left behind
As seasons roll on by

Sleeping with a full moon blanket
Sand and feathers for my head
Dreams have never been the answer
And dreams have never made my bed
Dreams have never made my bed

And I'm lost, behind
The words I'll never find
And I'm left behind
As seasons roll on by

Now I want to fly above the storm
But you can't grow feathers in the rain
And the naked floor is cold as hell
This naked floor reminds me
Oh the naked floor reminds me

And I'm lost, behind
Words I'll never find
And I'm left behind
As seasons roll on by

If I should be short on words
And long on things to say
Could you crawl into my world
And take me worlds away
Should I be beside myself
And not even stay

And I'm lost, behind
Words I'll never find
And I'm left behind
As seasons roll on by

Dandy Life by Collective Soul

I believe this is song may stand as somewhat unique in the Collective Soul library, primarily because it was sang by Ross Childress instead of default vocalist Ed Roland. Roland's voice can still be heard though doing backup duties on the chorus part.

One thing I like about the song is that it seems to be simple, starting with what seems to be a electronic drum back beat and jangling of guitars. This is one of my favorites among the Collective Soul catalog.

Took a walk to a caution scene
I guess I crossed the line somehow
And if I lost some of your hope
I'm sorry for the folly was all mine

And I don't ever really understand
All the things we say
But I try to anyway
Anyhow

For what's in a day of a dandy life
For what's in a day of this dandy life
Everything, Everything, Everything

Hangin' on every way
My social butterfly
Everyone wants to be loved
Loved in their own way

I can say I spent the night
On the telephone inside, When you said that
every single one of us can find a happy face
So why don't you go try
To Try anyway

And I suppose I was born yesterday
'Cause I never thought of things quite
In that way at all
and in that way

For what's in a day of a dandy life
For what's in a day of this dandy life
Everything, Everything, Everything

Hangin' on every way
My social butterfly
Everyone wants to be loved
Loved in their own way, way

Everyone wants to be loved
Loved in their own way, way
Hangin' on every way

Kabataan Para Sa Kinabukasan by Francis M

I rediscovered this song while watching Eat Bulaga's episode last saturday. They featured kids whom they granted scholarships back in 2009 and graduate this year 2013. Gloc 9 and Michael V sang this song, both a  tribute and a challenge to the Filipino Youth.

I'm not sure as to what the state of rap is in the Philippines nowadays. I guess we have good rappers now, Loonie and Abra are 2 people that come to mind. Gloc 9 is another, But no one still comes close to Francis M. Di kailangan ni FrancisM mag-mura... Ikaw ang mapapamura sa mga lyrics nya.

Kapag ang tao'y masipag, tumatatag ang buhay,
Nagsusumikap kahit mahirap, ialay
Ang pawis sa kinabukasan,
at nang tayong lahat ma-biyayaan,
At huwag kalilimutan
At laging tandaan ang hagdang
paitaas ang siyang laging tahakin
Anuman ang iyong gawin,
kahit yun at yun din, gawin mong magaling at sa
puso'y manggaling

Nasa palad mo ang kapalaran,
kabataan para sa kinabukasan
Oras ay ginto, gamitin ng mahusay,
dahil and oras ay walang hinihintay

Peace - Kapayapaan
Nature - Kalikasan
Children - Kabataan

Ang kabataan, kalikasan para sa kinabukasan,
Iwasan ang pagkakamaling ating naranasan
Oras nang magtubos,
daigdig natin 'wag sayangin,
'wag hayaang maubos
Oras na para kumilos (Make a stand)
Magkapit bisig para sa daigdig (Hand in hand)
Mulat na kabataan ang sagot,
'wag masasangkot sa ipinagbabawal na gamot
Kundi'y gamitin ang talino,
maging tunay na bayani, makabagong Pilipino

Sulong kabataan, ipakita ang lakas,
tunay at wagas na pag-asa ng bukas

Nasa palad mo ang kapalaran
kabataan para sa kinabukasan
Oras ay ginto, gamitin ng mahusay,
Dahil and oras ay walang hinihintay

Coffee & TV by Blur

I saw the video for this when I was in high school which featured a milk cartoon. I liked how the song sounded in general, but it was only yesterday when I got to read the lyrics to the song and have found a new level of appreciation for it.

Being an Oasis fan, I now appreciate Blur's music. I've come to realize that, maybe, Noel Gallagher's spite of Blur came from the fact that Blur represented a different kind of music, music that was also as good if not better than Oasis's.

Do you feel like a chain store?
Practically floored
One of many zeros
Kicked around bored
Your ears are full but your empty
Holding out your heart
To people who never really
Care how you are

So give me Coffee and TV
History
I've seen so much
I'm goin blind
And i'm braindead virtually
Sociability
It's hard enough for me
Take me away from this big bad world
And agree to marry me
So we can start all over again

Do you go to the country
It isn't very far
There's people there who will hurt you
Cos of who you are

Your ears are full of the language
There's wisdom there you're sure
'Til the words start slurring
And you can't find the door

So give me Coffee and TV
History
I've seen so much
I'm goin blind
And i'm braindead virtually
Sociability
It's hard enough for me
Take me away from this big bad world
And agree to marry me
So we can start all over again

So give me Coffee and TV
History
I've seen so much
I'm goin blind
And i'm braindead virtually
Sociability
It's hard enough for me
Take me away from this big bad world
And agree to marry me
So we can start all over again

Oh...we could start over again
Oh...we could start over again
Oh...we could start over again
Oh...we could start over again
