E-Bow the Letter by R.E.M.

What does this song remind me of? Going home early during 2nd year HS and watching MTV. I don't know what attracted me to this song. To be honest, it's one of those songs I just don't get. However I fell in love it. Maybe it's because of the overall sound it gave, it sounded lonely. Patty Smith's voice is chilling too! I was looking for the album all over, when I saw one, I grabbed unto it dearly. Just maybe, after I write this, I'll make sense of it.

Look up, what do you see?
All of you and all of me
Fluorescent and starry
Some of them, they surprise
The bus ride, I went to write this, 4:00 a.m.
This letter

Fields of poppies, little pearls
All the boys and all the girls sweet-toothed
Each and every one a little scary
I said your name

I wore it like a badge of teenage film stars
Hash bars, cherry mash and tinfoil tiaras
Dreaming of Maria Callas
Whoever she is

This fame thing, I don't get it
I wrap my hand in plastic to try to look through it
Maybelline eyes and girl-as-boy moves
I can take you far
This star thing, I don't get it

I'll take you over, there
I'll take you over, there
Aluminum, tastes like fear
Adrenaline, it pulls us near

I'll take you over
It tastes like fear, there
I'll take you over

Will you live to 83?
Will you ever welcome me?
Will you show me something that nobody else has seen?
Smoke it, drink

Here comes the flood
Anything to thin the blood
These corrosives do their magic slowly and sweet
Phone, eat it, drink
Just another chink
Cuts and dents, they catch the light
Aluminum, the weakest link

I don't want to disappoint you
I'm not here to anoint you
I would lick your feet
But is that the sickest move?
I wear my own crown and sadness and sorrow
And who'd have thought tomorrow could be so strange?

My loss, and here we go again
I'll take you over, there
I'll take you over, there
Aluminum, tastes like fear
Adrenaline, it pulls us near

I'll take you over
It tastes like fear, there
I'll take you over

Look up, what do you see?
All of you and all of me
Fluorescent and starry
Some of them, they surprise

I can't look it in the eyes
Seconal, Spanish fly, absinthe, kerosene
Cherry-flavored neck and collar
I can smell the sorrow on your breath
The sweat, the victory and sorrow
The smell of fear, I got it

I'll take you over, there
I'll take you over, there
Aluminum, tastes like fear
Adrenaline, it pulls us near

I'll take you over
It tastes like fear, there
I'll take you over
Pulls us near
Tastes like fear.
Nearer, nearer
Over, over, over, over
Yeah, look over
I'll take you there, oh, yeah
I'll take you there
Oh, over
I'll take you there
Over, let me
I'll take you there..
There, there, baby, yeah

Get Up and Go by Hanson

Yes... I am a fan of Hanson, but not since their mmmbop days. I was awestruck by 'Penny and Me' from their Underneath album and decided to go for it since it was available at a discount. Never was I expecting to encounter this collection of songs, from a band once marketed to compete with boybands. Get Up and Go is one of the catchiest songs I've heard from a while. Hanson is a lot better than most rock bands out there, and i now regret missing them when they hit the Philippine shores.

She plays guitar with her fingertips
She'll play your heart with her tender lips
She'll work it out until she makes the tips
And it's alright, yeah it's alright

Holding her tight in late December
I look in the stars and I remember
She doesn't mind when you offend her
And it's alright, yeah it's alright

Just a girl like you, and maybe just a
Just a guy like me, maybe we
Could take a walk on the wild side
Take a look and see

Get up and go

Just a girl like you, and maybe just a
Just a guy like me, maybe we
Could take a walk on the wild side
Take a look and take a look and go

Get Up and Go

What could I give when you've got all you need
And she looks at me like all I want's a little free
Every time I look at you it makes me see
That it's alright, yeah it's alright

We'll get away be in love we can make it better
All I need's a little time for us to get together
Happiness is just a step away
When it's alright, yeah it's alright

Just a girl like you, and maybe just a
Just a guy like me, maybe we
Could take a walk on the wild side
Take a look and see

Get up and go

Just a girl like you, and maybe just a
Just a guy like me, maybe we
Could take a walk on the wild side

Take a look and take a look and go
Ooh oh, ooh oh, won't you go
Ooh oh, ooh oh, won't you go
Ooh oh, ooh oh, won't you go

Take a look and, take a look and go

Seems like love has always found a way
But there's only so many hours in the day
All that I know is that you're here with me
And it's alright, yeah it's alright

Won't you tell me that you need me so bad
'Cause you are everything I've never had
Every time I look at you it hurts so bad
And it's alright, yeah it's alright

Just a girl like you, and maybe just a
Just a guy like me, maybe we
Could take a walk on the wild side
Take a look and see

Get up and go

Just a girl like you, and maybe just a
Just a guy like me, maybe we
Could take a walk on the wild side
Take a look and take a look and go

Get up and go

True by Spandau Ballet

Now True is a very good song by Spandau Ballet. However what makes this song memorable for me is because it was featured in one of my favorite movies of all-time.... Sixteen Candles. The movie featured one of my childhood crushes (and still is) Molly Ringwald.

Back in my high school days there was this girl who in my eyes looked like 'Molly Ringwald'. Actually we also shared the same elementary school. I still remember my buddy pointing her out in the school
quadrangle, saying she was the4th Grade version of our classmate (we were in grade 5 then). She was cute and thin... and beautiful. Too bad i didn't have the guts to say to here how important she is in my life (all of my crushes are). Noella... this is for you!

So true Funny how it seems
Always in time,
but never in line for dreams
Head over heels, when toe to toe

This is the sound of my soul
This is the sound

I bought a ticket to the world
But now Ive come back again
Why do I find it hard to write the next line
When I want the truth to be said

I know this much is true

With a thrill in my head and a pill on my tongue
Dissolve the nerves that have just begun
Listening to marvin all night long

This is the sound of my soul
This is the sound

Always slipping from my hands
Sands a time of ts own
Take your seaside arms
and write the next line
Oh I want the truth to be known

Harvester of Sorrow by Metallica

I would not act as if i know what this song is about... but i can honestly say that this is by favorite Metallica song of all time. I was particualry hooked on the intro riffs from Kirk Hammett and also the guitar solo part.

You might think i'm crazy every time i put this song on. I've always imagined doing a rap-metal cover of this song. I could have been a show stealer during Metallica's MTV Icon episode!!

My life suffocates
Planting seeds of hate
Ive loved, turned to hate
Trapped far beyond my fate

I give
You take
This life that I forsake
Been cheated of my youth
You turned this lie to truth

Anger
Misery
Youll suffer unto me

Harvester of sorrow
Language of the mad
Harvester of sorrow

Pure black looking clear
My work is done soon here
Try getting back to me
Get back which used to be

Drink up
Shoot in
Let the beatings begin
Distributor of pain
Your loss becomes my gain

Anger
Misery
Youll suffer unto me

Harvester of sorrow
Language of the mad
Harvester of sorrow

All have said their prayers
Invade their nightmares
See into my eyes
Youll find where murder lies

Infanticide

Harvester of sorrow
Language of the mad
Harvester of sorrow
Language of the mad
Harvester of sorrow

Roxanne by The Police

I neve appreciated this song, until lowly Rockstar:Supernova Contestant Chris Pierson sang this as his 1st piece. Tommy Lee, Gilby Clarke and Jason Newsted said that his version was short of disgusting dismissing him in the first episdoe, but it made me appreciate the song, because of his standard rock arrangement instead of Police's tango cadence. But yes, after listening to the Police's version, Chris's version was lowly indeed.

This is one song i would wish i was credited to have written.
Roxanne is a about prostitution. Sad to say that in your country, some girls have to resort to doing such. That's just reality, but maybe someday we can do something about it

Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Those days are over
You don't have to sell your body to the night
Roxanne, you don't have to wear that dress tonight
Walk the streets for money
You don't care if it's wrong or if it's right

Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Put on the red light, put on the red light
Put on the red light, put on the red light
Put on the red light, oh

I loved you since I knew ya
I wouldn't talk down to ya
I have to tell you just how I feel
I won't share you with another boy
I know my mind is made up
So put away your make up
Told you once I won't tell you again it's a bad way

Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
You don't have to put on the red light
Put on the red light, put on the red light
