The song and the band that broke my musical barriers. It was summer of 2000 when I chanced upon the music video of Pardon Me. I was into rap-metal at that time with the likes of KORN and Limp Bizkit. I've read in a magazine the band's name being thrown around by local artists as if it a license to be cool. If you were in to rap-metal in those day's you'd instantly feel that the other bands' vocalists were sissies compared to Brandon Boyd. After watching that particular video, my life was changed.

A decade ago, I never thought I would be,
at twenty three, on the verge of spontaneous combustion. Woe-is-me.

Not two days ago, I was having a look in a book
and I saw a picture of a guy fried up above his knees.
I said, "I can relate," cause' lately I've been thinking of combustication
as a welcomed vacation from the burdens of the planet earth.
Like gravity, hypocrisy, and the perils of being in 3-D...
and thinking so much differently.

I was introduced to Jonny Lang through CNN back from the days when still have those Hollywood reports. The kids a guitar genius they say. Years after, I encountered his debut album... for P20 at that. Missing Your Love's your classic love song. Its just him, the guitar and his feelings. Remarkable considering that he was only 15 when he recorded this.

Crash Crash by Murderdolls

Whats the best about buying CDs? Finding a bargain and a new musical territory thats what. The Coldplay CD I bought turned out to be a lemon, and this is what I got in return 'The Heart of Roadrunner Records'. There's a lot of heavy music here but this one standsout. Murderdolls is a band of Joey Jordison, the Slipknot drummer. Crash Crash is straight on heavy metal without excuses... just in time for the new year!

I'm not really familiar with this band (except that Ted Nugent's the guitarist) , it just so happened that my oldest brother bought this CD and always plays this song (he never really does listen to the other songs... just this particular one). Months ago, he played this song and our mother quipped that whenever she hears this song playing on the radio... she remembers us, her 3 sons, so there... a glam rock song holding a special place in our mother's heart.

Shine by Mr. Big

One of my recent favorites is this song by Mr. Big. Culled from their last album 'Actual Size', I first encountered the song via a pirated DVD concert i bought for P60 (or P55, i really don't remember). The guitar intro got me hooked... something about it makes me wanna get up and dance.
