Real Love by John Lennon

I was watching the movie Funny People last Sunday and found the movie very good. In the movie, Adam Sandler plays this song with musicians he payed to jam with him. The rendition of the song was very good, I actually didn't realize that it was Real Love, the "new" Beatles song in the Anthology 2 album. Checking on the history of the song, I found out that it was actually an previously unreleased John Lennon song, which was included in a collection of his, Working Class Hero. I had to dug up my Working Class Hero CD just to take it to a listen again. Thanks to Adam Sandler for making me rediscover this song.

All my little plans and schemes
Lost like some forgotten dreams
Seems like all I really was doing
Was waiting for you

Just like little girls and boys
Playing with their little toys
Seems like all they really were doing
Was waiting for love

Don't need to be alone
No need to be alone

It's real love
It's real, yes it's real yes it's real love
It's real

From this moment on I know
Exactly where my life will go
Seems like all I really was doing
Was waiting for love

Thought I'd been in love before,
But in my heart I wanted more
Seems like all I really was doing
Was waiting for you

Don't need to be afraid
No need to be afraid

It's real love
Yes it's real, yes it's real love
It's real.

Stay (I Missed You) by Lisa Loeb

Few songs have the power to make me travel back in time, this song by Lisa Loeb and Nine Stories is one of them. Somehow it just takes me back to the good old days. Hell, the song also features a cool bassline, something that I would like to learn soon.

You say I only hear what I want to.
You say I talk so all the time so.

And I thought what I felt was simple,
And I thought that I don't belong,
And now that I am leaving,
Now I know that I did something wrong 'cause I missed you.
Yeah, I missed you.

And you say I only hear what I want to:
I don't listen hard,
I don't pay attention to the distance that you're running
or to anyone, anywhere,
I don't understand if you really care,
I'm only hearing negative: no, no, no.

So I turned the radio on, I turned the radio up,
And this woman was singing my song:
The lover's in love, and the other's run away,
The lover is crying 'cause the other won't stay.

Some of us hover when we weep for the other who was
Dying since the day they were born.
Well, this is not that:
I think that I'm throwing, but I'm thrown.

And I thought I'd live forever, but now I'm not so sure.

You try to tell me that I'm clever,
But that won't take me anyhow, or anywhere with you.

You said that I was naive,
And I thought that I was strong.
I thought, "hey, I can leave, I can leave."
But now I know that I was wrong, 'cause I missed you.

You said, "You caught me 'cause you want me and one day you'll let me go."
"You try to give away a keeper, or keep me 'cause you know you're just so scared to lose.
And you say, "stay."

You say I only hear what I want to.

Friday I'm in Love by The Cure

Robert Smith of The Cure has always managed to write catchy songs, and this one is not an exception to that. I absolutely love the word play... the lyrics are simple yet amazing.

The song also features a wonderful riff. I'm not really sure if it's coming from a guitar or another string instrument, but it's definitely magical to my ears.

I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's gray and Wednesday too
Thursday I don't care about you
It's Friday, I'm in love

Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart
Oh, Thursday doesn't even start
It's Friday I'm in love

Saturday, wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday, never hesitate...

I don't care if Mondays black
Tuesday, Wednesday - heart attack
Thursday, never looking back
It's Friday, I'm in love

Monday, you can hold your head
Tuesday, Wednesday stay in bed
Or Thursday - watch the walls instead
It's Friday, I'm in love

Saturday, wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday, never hesitate...

Dressed up to the eyes
It's a wonderful surprise
To see your shoes and your spirits rise
Throwing out your frown
And just smiling at the sound
And as sleek as a sheik
Spinning round and round
Always take a big bite
It's such a gorgeous sight
To see you eat in the middle of the night
You can never get enough
Enough of this stuff
It's Friday, I'm in love

I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's gray and Wednesday too
Thursday I don't care about you
It's Friday, I'm in love

Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart
Thursday doesn't even start
It's Friday I'm in love

Take Tomorrow (One Day at a Time) by Butch Walker

I was to listen to Butch Walker's Stateline song for inspiration then bumped into this song I haven't listened to in a while. It's not difficult to be inspired with Take Tomorrow (One Day at a Time) .I remember trying to learn this song so i can sing it ala Butch Walker in an office event but it never happened.

You got lost, For a while.
You've been trying to find a smile.
You got stood up, then you fell down,
and when you needed , there was no one 'round.
You loved the previews and hate the movie.
You scream at the screen, "Something move me!"
before you start to fade away.

Give me all your fear, Throw it all away.
and think about the good things, no matter what they say,
we'll take tomorrow baby, yeah,
one day at a time.

You just stare into space,
you found love but it got erased,
you're on the road with all the stoplights,
and you're too afraid to turn the wrong from right.
You ate your soul and it made ya fat,
starve yourself from everything else that makes you completely full.
So give me all your fear, throw it all away.
Think about the good things, no matter what they say.
We'll take tomorrow baby, yeah,
one day at a time.

So you run, so you hide,
and you watched as they die,
they all fell, you could fall too,
or you could sew your wings and try to fly right through.

Give me all your fear, throw it all away.
Think about the good things, no matter what they say.
We'll take tomorrow baby, yeah,
One day at a time.
One day at a time.

Feelin' Loved by Paula Cole

This song was included in the soundtrack for one of my favorite movies of all-time, City of Angels. I actually forgot this was from the This Fire album, as Paula Cole's debut is more prominently known for Where Have All the Cowboys Gone and I Don't Want to Wait. I just got my copy of this album last weekend

Love, love

You make me feel like a sticky pistil...
leading into a stamen
You make me feel like a mister sunshine...
Himself
You make me feel like splendor in the grass...
while we're rollin'...
Dance with me baby
You make me feel like the Amazon's runnin' between...
my thighs

You make me feel love, love, love, love, love
love, love, love, love, love
You make me feel love, love, love, love, love
love, love, love, love

You make me feel like a candy apple
Red and horny
You make me feel like I wanna be a dumb blonde
In a centerfold, the girl next door
And I would open the door and...
I'd be all wet
With my tits soaking through this tiny little t-shirt...
That I'm wearing
And you would open the door and tie...
Me up to the bed

You make me feel love, love, love, love, love
love, love, love, love, love
You make me feel love, love, love, love, love
love, love, love, love

Lover, I don't know who I am
Am I Barry White? Am I Isis?
Lover, I'm laced with your unconscious
Oh baby babe babe baby
I will be your Desdemona ahhhhh...

Take your time...

You make me feel Ahaa
You make me feel WooWoo baby
You make me feel Ahaa mmm
You make me feel loved

Bahid by Salindiwa

I tried to listening to the only album of Salindiwa yesterday to specifically listen to Zeroes and Ones song, however this was the song that eventually made a dent on my day. Awesome bass lines and a great message from this song.

Buti pa ang mga hayup
pumapatay lang pag gutom
Ang tao papatay para sa perang may bahid na dugo
ng mga inosenteng walang kinalaman sa gulong ito
Kung sino pa'ng mabait buhay niya ay kay lupit

Nabubuhay namamatay

Buti pa ang mga gago
Sila lang ang umaasenso
Ang mahirap lalong humihirap
Ang mayaman wala namang pakialam
Isa-isang namamatay ang mga bata sa lansangan
Kinakasangkapan ng sariling magulang

Tayo ba'y nabubuhay para lamang mamatay..?
